You must have heard of the common expressions pertaining to how one view about Life such as:
“Just get on with life.”
“Live for today.” “Forget tomorrow.”
“Live life to the fullest. Do whatever your heart desires.”
These expressions show that most people believe that this short life is all we will ever have, so they promote the idea that we should make the most of if.
For millions of earth’s inhabitants, making the most of this life certainly does not mean a hedonistic pursuit of pleasure. The dire circumstances in which many find themselves make their life today nothing but a relentless, bitter struggle for survival. People think about the future as a “tomorrow” that often seems unbearably bleak and hopeless.
We should not be like the people of Noah’s day. They were so busy “eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage” that they “took no note” of what was about to happen. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening nowadays. So, should we need to have some fear on that resemblance? Well, let’s take a flashback on what happened on Noah’s Day. What was the consequence? “The flood came and swept them all away.” Well, I’m not saying that there’s another global flood that’s about to come. We never know what could happen next. One thing for sure, the bible tells us that there will be a Judgement day. Matthew 24:21 says; “There will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now.” No human can avert that event. Indeed, there is no reason why true worshippers would want to avert it. Why? Because this event will rid the earth of all evil, and it will usher in “a new heaven and a new earth,” meaning a new heavenly government and a new earthly society. (Psalm 37:29″) In that new world, God “will wipe out every tear from [people’s] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”— Revelation 21: 1-4
